When I realised that the Before and After pictures weren’t as dramatic as they should have been, I decided to take new ones wearing nothing. Here are some close-ups of problem areas I need to conceal wearing just the Fenty foundation in the first ones and with the addition of the LA Girl Pro Conceal in the second ones. I think flicking back and forth while looking at the eye area, you can see how the second photo looks brighter. I think the lighting might have been flattering because in person, you can see a huge difference between the two. To be honest, I thought this before and after would be far more dramatic. The first photo is me wearing only the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Foundation and the second is with the addition of the LA Girl Pro Conceal. I add a touch of Highlighter on the tip of my nose also. I mix both shades to brighten my under eye but use the Porcelain shade for any additional coverage I need on my face. This is how I apply the concealer on a daily basis. I still mix both shades for my under eye area to add a brightened, lifted effect. Originally I thought that this was a pure white shade for mixing but quickly realised it has a pearlescence to it. I like it so much that I decided to purchase the highlight shade, GC996 Highlighter, as well. While brands like Fenty Beauty and Huda Beauty are bringing out fairer and fairer foundations where the lightest is actually too pale for me (unheard of!), I never really have to worry about a concealer being too light as I like the brightening effect. I am usually the lightest shade in a foundation so looking for a concealer slightly lighter to brighten my under-eyes can be a tough ask. I picked up the lightest shade, GC969 Porcelain. The concealer is available in 21 shades with an additional 6 shades of colour corrector available alongside 1 highlighting shade. My concealer stash is uncharacteristically low at the minute so these were the only concealers I had on hand to compare the colours too. The perfect definition of a concealer in my opinion. Girl claim that this is “crease-resistant with opaque coverage in a creamy, yet lightweight texture.” They say it has a “long-wearing formula” which “camouflages darkness under the eyes, redness and skin imperfections,…evens skin tone…and minimises fine lines around the eyes”. Obviously if you were a working makeup artist using these on clients, you would not be able to apply it straight from the brush but could dispense it on to a palette instead. I know some people hate these kind of applicators because there is no real way to clean them, making them unhygienic but I can look past that. I don’t mind the packaging but do find that it is easy to go overboard and apply too much. If you push too firmly, a little too much product can come out so you do need to be careful with your pressure. When you push on the tube, the concealer is dispensed through the brush and I find it simple to stroke on wherever I need it. The concealer comes in a squeezy tube with a brush on the end. The packaging of the Pro Conceal is unusual and I do imagine it will be quite divisive. It did stay in the back of my mind as a product of interest though and when it popped up recently in an ad on Facebook, shipping from a UK website, I purchased it without hesitation. Girl wasn’t available on this side of the ocean at the time. A full coverage concealer, everybody seemed to promise, at a very low price-point. It seemed to spread like an epidemic across the platform and everybody who did their makeup on camera seemed to use it. If you are still a follower of any beauty channels, you will probably have seen mention of the L.A. However, there are a few YouTubers that I have been subscribed to for years that I still tune into almost daily. I don’t subscribe to a huge number of channels because much like in blogging, there seems to be a massive surge in influencers who care more about making money than producing quality content. It seems to be less common these days but I am still a huge fan of watching beauty videos on YouTube.
